Dear EJ Martinez Families,
Welcome to the new school year!
My name is Angelique Armijo Ortiz and I am so excited to be at EJ Martinez this school year! I hope that you all have had a restful summer and are gearing up to have a great school year. Below is a little bit about me!
I was born and raised in Santa Fe, NM off of Upper Canyon Road. I have been in the district for 15+ years and have been able to experience many SFPS schools. I attended Atalaya Elementary, Alameda Jr. High and then graduated in 2001 from St. Michael’s High School. I received my undergraduate in Elementary Education from New Mexico State University in 2006 and then my Masters Degree from NMSU in 2011.
After graduating in December 2006 with my undergrad I came back to Santa Fe and started teaching in a 3rd grade bilingual classroom at Sweeney Elementary. I later transferred to Amy Biehl and taught 4th grade for four years and later transferred to Atalaya Elementary. During my 5 years at Atalaya I taught 4th grade and was the interventionist for instructional support. It was there where I decided to go back to school for my administration licensure for Educational Leadership. I started my administration career at Ramirez Thomas and was the assistant principal for 2 years. Most recently I was the principal at El Dorado Community School.
My roots run deep in our community and I truly believe in our Santa Fe students and families. We are part of a diverse and rich community that shapes our students and their growing minds. As an educator I have a deep passion for guiding the emotional, social and academic growth of students and professionals. I too love the journey of being a lifelong learner and fostering my growth mindset so we all continue to have high expectations. I believe in integrity, empathy, communication and collaboration. This drives my moral compass to always do what is in the best interest of our students and work as a team to meet our collective goals. -Meet and Greet with the Principal on Tuesday August 9th @ 8:30am.
-Welcome Back to School Night here at EJ Martinez- Monday, August 15 at 5:00-6:30. At this event you will be able to find out who your students' teacher is and take supplies to their classroom. I will do a quick introduction of myself and our wonderful EJ saff.
